Learning to Improve: Tips for Getting Better at Getting Better

Our nation’s schools are in a constant state of reform. While outcomes are improving, public expectations for schools are increasing. We now attend to the learning of all students at a higher level, through implementation of common standards. The result is a widening gap between these expectations and what schools have realistically achieved. Many leaders believe the way to reduce the gap is by disrupting the educational system substantially and quickly -implementing fast and learning slow. Participants will be introduced to a new paradigm requiring a shift toward learning fast to implement well. Information will be shared on six improvement principles that can help school leaders improve outcomes with opportunities for reflection and input on future work by the University of Minnesota.
